OllieD Posted February 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2010 We are thinking of going on the RCCL Radiance of the Seas March 22. We have been on other cruises where they have those automated Poker Pro Tables in the casino that are basicall flat 40" TV with about 8 players around it playing poker. We have really enjoyed it. We are having trouble getting a correct answer from RCCL if they are on this particular ship. So, does anyone know if Radiance of the the Seas is using the Poker Pro machines in their casino? What games are they playing? What stakes? Any tournaments? When are they scheduled? If they don't have a Poker Pro table/machine, what is the poker situation onboard? Are there tournaments? Texas Hold'em? When and if you recall, how much are the entry fees? Thanks so much
NicoLee Posted February 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2010 I've never been on ROS, but pretty sure all rccl boats have the poker Pro. Last time on FOS they had a couple of tourneys for around $100 buy in and the cash games was usually $3/$6 no limit with a 10%/$10 cap rake. It was a while ago that I was on FOS so things may have changed but I think you'll be able to find a table. The big question will be can you fill the table w/ players. grod19 Posted February 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2010 can't speak for ROS but Explorer about 2 weeks ago was doing a live dealer game, no poker pro, $50 buy in, 1-2 no limit 10% rake max $10. Game started around dinner time and most nights we were the last ones in the casino.

The cash game was 1-2 NL and they ran a tournament 3 of the sea days with a top prize being a cruise for two on the Oasis. We had to have at least 42 players sign up to play for the cruise which we did. Entry was $100.00 I think they also paid down to 4th pl. cash. The poker table had some very good action for the whole 7 day cruise. Some very good players. Some newbies but a very friendly game always. The tournament is called RCI poker tour and is supposed to be on all of their Radiance & Freedom class ships. It is EXTREMELY fast. 10 minute levels then blinds go up. I think we got in 4 hands each level so anticipate being very agressive if you decide to play the tourny. Kikster1227 Posted February 20, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 20, 2010 Does anyone know one way or another? Someone in our group used this game on Carnival and loved it.
Pilot53 Posted February 21, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 21, 2010 We were on the Radiance Jan 2 for 10 days. They did not have Poker pro in the casino. They had a converted black jack table set up with 7 players and a dealer. 10% rake. I checked to see of there were any games, and there was never any one to play. They had tournaments, but they were either during off ship days, or dinner. Never played any hold em. Just VP.
popinpics Posted February 21, 2010 #8 Share Posted February 21, 2010 The Poker Pro tables for the most part are great to play on. The game moves along quicker because you don't have to sit there and wait for a dealer to shuffle, count chips, split pots, new setups, etc. Plus you don't have to tip. However some times the touch screens don't always work smoothly. And when a player that has never used one sits down you have to be a little patient until they catch on. I agree and disagree, I like them for the speed but I hate them because you can't see peoples tells when they count their chips etc. Also people are much more likely to hit the raise button because it is sitting right in front of them. I still prefer a live game but I am happy they have it onboard.
popinpics Posted February 24, 2010 #11 Share Posted February 24, 2010 Yeah it's more of a cross between playing online and live play. A little clue about tells. On the poker pro tables players are spending more time looking down and not paying as much attention to what their body language is saying. Also I have had to endure some very incompetent dealers on cruise ships.
Bluegirl Posted March 18, 2010 #12 Share Posted March 18, 2010 I'm surprised to hear the Radiance does not have PokerPro. Does anyone know if Voyager does?
