Hotel options in Rio

We are spending 3 nights in Rio before our cruise and hope someone has some hotel recommendations. We are thinking about being in the Copacabana area but are open to suggestions elsewhere. Any recommendations? Thx!

We stayed at the Hotel Arpeador in Ipanema. Not fancy but in excellent location close to transportation, restaurants, bars and a gorgeous beach. Hotels in Rio are expensive or at least they were a couple of years ago.

The Marriott on the beach is wonderful. We used points and a deal and our room was an interior (no view) but that location was so great worth the splurge. We walked back 3 blocks to locals grocery and it was fantastic . Cheap and what a great experience.
