konatyme Posted March 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 20, 2018 Has anyone had any experience using Real Deal Tours in Panama City? From their website info, I believe they don't actually do the tours, but set them up. We are looking at a private tour for four of us to Casco Viejo & possibly Panama Antiguo (don't want to include the locks or Canal). A related question: on their website, they also have tix for the HOHO bus and state that one of the stops is Amador Causeway where the cruise ships tender. Does anyone know if this is correct for the Coral Princess, which lists Fuerte Amador as the port?
BillB48 Posted March 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 20, 2018 Can't help you with Real Deal. The HOHO bus does include Ft. Amador on its route, I guess your question is Amador Causeway and Fuerte Amador the same place? Short answer is yes, Ft. Amador consists of a section on the mainland and the causeway connecting the four islands about 5 miles offshore. It is all "Ft. Amador" and if you just say "Causeway" to anyone locally, they will know exactly where you mean.

We have no experience with Real deal tours but will be using Myfriend Mario aka Almiza Tours whilst in Panama City and will report back when we return. Their description and pricing is very good. I am leaning towards booking with them, just need to find the reviews to make sure feedback is positive. Please post if you find out anything about this company. Thank you.
Northbay Posted May 3, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 3, 2018
Thank you both for the info. Will be watching for further posts about Almizu Tours & Mario.

Hi, we recently returned from our vacation in Panama City and cruises.

Re Almiza Tours and my friend Mario, I can't honestly recommend this company. They seem to be in the habit of changing prearranged plans to suit themselves, not the customer. This was done at the last minute on our arrival at the airport.

However what I would highly recommend if in Panama City for a day or two is the half day trolley tour booked through viator. They even pick you up at your downtown hotel and drop you off, and you have the opportunity of visiting numerous places e.g. MiraFlores lock and museum, Amador Causeway, Bridge of the Americas, Flamenco Island, fish market, Casco Antiguo, plus a city drive, We were fortunate to be sharing the trolley with only one other couple, and a great guide.

Also I would recommend the monkey island tour by boat on Gatun Lake, where you see about five different monkeys that even come on your boat to be fed with bananas, You have a different perspective of the locks and also being on the water in a very small boat beside the big ships waiting to go through the canal.

Another interesting tour we did a few years ago, but this was through the cruise line whilst on a partial transit was the aerial tram ride over the lush Panamanian rainforest. I would highly recommend this especially if done in the morning.
