Cruising past the Kilauea Volcano

On our upcoming trip on Holland America we are cruising past the Kilauea Volcano after we leave Hilo. Since we sail at 6 PM, what time should we be passing the volcano? Another thoughts or suggestions on how to maximise viewing?

Also, how are the views when sailing out of Hilo?

We have early dining and are trying to figure out how to work around this.

As of a couple of days ago, the lava flow into the ocean has ceased flowing. I am not sure if there are any breakouts higher up on the slopes that can be viewed. However, this can always change as it has over the last few decades. If the lava is not flowing, many cruise lines do not head in that direction when leaving Hilo.

We were on NCL last week and did not cruise past the lava flow. The lava was not flowing because it was windy (or so we were told) so the viewing was cancelled. On earlier cruises I had heard the lava was flowing, we didn't hear until about 4pm that day.
