shoreguy Posted August 20, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2005 Many thanks to all of you that have posted links to your photos of this ship. It has added so much to the anticapation. UKDeb Posted August 20, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2005 Thanks, shoreguy. The friends we are cruising with next April have been away in California for the past 2 1/2 weeks and I'm pretty sure they won't have seen any of the Jewel photos yet. They're back home on Monday, so this will make it much easier for them. :)

fourxk Posted August 20, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2005 Are there any pics of the AB or A3 suites yet? They are about the same size, so I assume they are close in layout. Would love to see if there are. Otherwise anyone cruising soon.......this is your mission! We booked an AB for November. I'm dying to see if they are laid out the same as the Dawn and Star. mortysmama Posted August 20, 2005 #10 Share Posted August 20, 2005 Shoreguy....Thanks so much for putting the pictures all in the same place. When is your Trans-Atlantic cruise? If memory serves me correctly...it should be coming up soon. We have 2 more months to wait. I wonder does anyone have samples of the "pay" restaurants? I'm curious if they have changed much from the Dawn. As soon as someone goes on a full cruise, I'd love to see a sample of the regular dining room menus and Freestyle Daily. (I'm not rushing you am I?....lol) Many thanks to all who contributed to the wonderful pictures. You've done a fabulous job showing us her personality. Happy cruising! Goldryder Posted August 20, 2005 #11 Share Posted August 20, 2005 I had the Freestyle Dailies on the mini-cruises. I still have them for both days...currently doing the rounds with the neighbours at the moment with the photographs. :)

(I'm not rushing you am I?....lol) The Jersey mini cruise Freestyle Dailies are under the Bits 'n Pieces section on the link to my photos given above by Shoreguy [thanks for sticking them all in one place:)]. In the restaurant section you can see the Tango's & Blue Lagoon menus. I don't think there is much to Dawn's menus.

I was on deck 8, midships 8068 and couldn't fault a thing, and even though my cabin had corridors on two sides it was extremely quiet, even when several people wandered past. Did you have similar experiences on her too? :)

It was quiet yes, however it was incorrectly categorised.. which has however now been corrected. Pretty much the same as Dawn's cabins fixture wise, just different colours. The cabin was fine for 2, but never book it for 3. If we'd have had a 3rd night my son would have slept on the floor, by order of me:)
mortysmama Posted August 20, 2005 #18 Share Posted August 20, 2005 Thank you everyone for your quick replies. Shoreguy.....Sounds like you're really looking forward to your cruise on the Jewel. I will be waiting patiently for your review and pictures. What room have you booked? We have a mini suite for October....and from what I have seen so far it looks pretty much the same as the Dawn....except brighter! (BTW....I'm not so good at math...it will take me a bit of time to convert your minutes into days....but I have nothing else to do this afternoon. lol) Happy cruising! PS....(are you packed yet?) If we'd have had a 3rd night my son would have slept on the floor, by order of me:) My cabin had 2 singles that could be made into one bigger bed + pullman, or 2 singles + pullman + extra bed. I had it to myself and had a bit of a 'play' with the options (albeit without the extra bed) and found it surprisingly roomy. OK it was 'cozy' but as you are only sleeping in the cabin, it wasn't overly tight for space, really. It is 161sq ft which isn't a bad size at all. Magwa Posted August 20, 2005 #20 Share Posted August 20, 2005 With the rollaway up, there is no room to swing a cat and we had to get up or changed in 2 shifts. For my son it was 'fun', passable for me, but very awkward and unacceptable to my mother having to climb in and out of bed. Had we known this was purely a 3 berth cabin we would not have taken it, knowing it would be like that, but being incorrectly classified as a '3 and/or 4' berth we expected a pullman which we would have used, not the rollaway. We should have swapped cabins, I like your windows... ours was also classified as having a picture window, which it did not [i has sussed that from the ship pics anyway]. [both these errors have now been corrected]. Unfortunately, even though this was booked on the day after the offer came out, there were no higher category cabins available. This was the only downer to the trip, well, apart from the price of drinks! We have had the same cabin arrangement as you had, on other NCL ships and that's fine; we've also had 4 berth outsides & balcony with the double pullout sofabed arrangement, that's better. I booked my trip in mid June via my TA, who was also aboard, I got the deck 8 cabin straight away. Whether it had anything to do with me booking (and paying in full for) my Christmas cruise beforehand by a couple of weeks I don't know. The windows let lots of light into the cabin, despite the tenders being there.

TITISSA Posted August 21, 2005 #24 Share Posted August 21, 2005 Just came back from the Dawn and had a wonderful cruise. Ship was sold out and the pool area was very crowded. My question is: On the Jewel is the courtyard villa pool also available for the 2 penthouse suites on deck 14 (14014 and 14514) or it will be just for those 8 courtyard villa cabins? Thanks for any info. Leticia.

Leticia. From what I saw on deck 14/15, the two bigger suites had their own hot tubs only and the Garden Villas surrounded the enclosed courtyard area with the plunge pool and another hot tub and gym. There are stairs next to the gym area up to a private sundeck for the villa cabins on deck 15. The penthouse cabins have their own access to their own private sundecks, again on deck 15. I would imagine the penthouse suite occupants could quite happily use the plunge pool in the courtyard as there is a corridor with an access door to the courtyard across from the entrances to the two penthouses. Above the penthouses is the butler, consierge and cabin staff quarters/lounge which is out of bounds to guests. I hope that is of some help. :)
