Flight out of NO at noon possible?

We will be on the NCL Spirit in March 2010. Our flight leaves New Orleans/MSY at 12:20 pm. Is it possible to get off the ship, get a cab and be at the airport in time for this flight? Would a cab be the fastest to obtain or should we reserve private transportation that would be waiting for us? A little nervous about this time frame, but it was the best price at booking and we get to our destination at a very good time. Also, would it be faster to disembark with our luggage or put it out the door at midnight (and find it after customs)?

Any thoughts or have you done it and succeeded??

We have sailed out of NO a couple of times. Unless things have changed in a year, the port is a MESS. Long waits for cabs or busses. We booked flights at around 3:00pm, but I don't really like to rush (I'm on vacation! :)). If you do book this flight, make sure that you can either get tags to get off early, or take your luggage off yourself. Again, it could have changed, but I just remember the past!

Good Luck with whatever you choose.
