DH and I just returned on 8/30 we had a great time. Food & entertainment good, cabin spectacular, DR waitstaff superb, loved movies under the stars...ONLY COMPLAINT..CASINO took our $$$$$$$$$$$$. But, it really is a fine ship and would not hesitate to do again (with more $ next time). Hope that you have a good time. Any questions ask away.

Which route are you doing? I wrote a lengthy review (link is in my signature) from the 8 day western route to Cozumel, Costa Rica, and Panama. The review has lots of photos...enjoy!

There is also a link to the capers from our cruise as well!

Sarah;

When are you planning to sail on her? We'll be on board in 48 DAYS! :D :D I plan to write a review when I get back. We are doing the 8 day Western with stops in Cozumel, Costa Rica and Panama. (PS: Thanks for an awesome review Arymay!). But, if you're heading out before us, then I can't help you. But have a good cruise!

We'll be doing the same itinerary in 132 days! Can't wait to read your review! :D

We just got back as well. LOVED IT! Link to the review is in my signature.

If you have any specific questions, just ask. I'm sure someone will chime in with the answer.

Sarah, there are no rock climbing walls or skating rinks on the Freedom, or any other Carnival ship as far as I know. Think that's a RCCL thing. I also won't be able to help you with the kid stuff, since we don't have any. Although, we try to hit mini golf and the arcade once or twice, but we enjoy the casino too. We're doing the same intinerary as you, so make sure to check out my review in November. And Celticd1 too! What have you guys planned for excursions? We are planning to go to Mr Sancho's in Cozumel for the cooking classes, we are doing the 8 hour Panama Canal tour (on the ferry, DH's choice!), and we are doing the Sloth Sanctuary tour in Costa Rica. The last review I did had a ton of pictures, so it's something to look forward to. It makes me sooo happy to be going before you guys!!:p :D :p :D

You sound as excited as I am sure to be when I hit 48 days out! :D

So far we have 2 excursions booked. Cozumel we are heading to Mr. Sancho's with a bunch of other Freedom Rockers and in Panama we booked with My Friend Mario for his CL001 (I think that's the right number) tour of the rainforest, Gatun locks and Ft. Lorenzo. We are still trying to decide on Costa Rica. All of the tours seem to offer something that we would like to do (rainforest hike, beach, flora and fauna type stuff) but they also include many things that we aren't interested in seeing or doing (plantation tours, ziplining, city tours) so I just sent out e-mails to a couple of tour operators that get good reviews here on CC about doing a customized tour.

I am really looking forward to your review and pictures!! I love reading long, detailed reviews (like AryMay and CeleBrat wrote - thanks you guys! :D ).

Hope you have a great cruise!

Here's a link to CeleBrat's (awesome!) review: The 8-Day Whirlwind Mystery Tour on the 8/15 Freedom

Both of the shore tours that we have booked are with outside companies. We much prefer independent excursions that we book directly with the tour operator, if at all possible. Fewer people, usually a better tour and less expensive. We do research the companies and only go with those that have been recommended by fellow CCers. Have you checked out the Ports of Call forums here on CC? Just in case you haven't, here are the links to Costa Rica and Panama.

There doesn't seem to be as much info about these ports but there are a few things to choose from.

Can't help you with the kids stuff, sorry.

Please write a review when you return! :)

We did independent tours in Costa Rica (zipline, Tortuguero Canal and banana plantation) and Panama (Embera Indian village and Panama Canal) and were very happy with both. I posted reviews of our tours on the ports of call boards, but both got deleted. Guess they thought I was "advertising". Anyway...you can read about what we did on my review (link in signature).

In Cozumel we just took a cab to the Money Bar at Dzul Ha. This "beach" is very close to Puerta Maya where the Carnival ships dock...$8 in cab fare each way. If you are looking for a relaxing, inexpensive day in Cozumel this is something to consider. The snorkeling is OK and the food at the Money Bar is good.
