Spending the day at a resort?

I stayed at Sandals Halcyon in January and don't see paying $150 per person to spend a few hours there, but I am interested in going to some nice place to have lunch and spend part of the day. Any recommendations on other all-inclusive resorts on St. Lucia, or non-inclusive?

;)

Almond Morgan Bay is VERY nice.....smaller than the Sandals resorts, but much more the feel of the island. And the people were REALLY nice, as opposed to Sandals Grande where they acted like we were trespassing and needed to be "dealt with". The guests at AMB are predominantly Brits and Aussies.....very fun-loving and friendly.

We just returned from a southern caribbean cruise on carnival which stopped in St. Lucia. We had such a great experience with Serenity Travel in January, that we called them again to see what kind of ideas they had for us. WOW! What a day we had! We were met at the port, escorted to a really nice dive boat which took us along the coast for about 30 minutes to the Ti Kaye resort. At the resort, we had whole body massages, lunch, and use of the beach with chairs, umbrellas, snorkel gear & kayaks. After about 7 hrs, we got back on the dive boat to return to the ship. We did 7 islands in 7 days and I think the St. Lucia day was -- by far - the most outstanding excursion we did!

How much was the resort pass and are kids permitted?

I just booked this same tour with Serenity and they told me that it is brand new. They do not have the package posted yet on the web site. It is probably a good idea to go ahead and get in touch with them though since they only take 3 or 4 couples a day for this package. It is a really good deal in my opinion and fees are going up after Nov. 11th or 15th. :D

Island Divers (the resort's resident dive shop) does about the same thing. Includes water transfers to/from, lunch, and use of facilities (chairs, snorkle gear) for $75 pp. Seems a bit steep to me to spend $150 for 2 to have lunch and snorkel from a beach. But then again, cab fare on this island seems very expensive, so maybe not so out of line. How much is Serenity charging?

For all you mentioned above and a couples massage it is $125. I think that is very reasonable.

Hey Deb, we'll see you there. Same place we're headed with Frank.

Hey Ernie! I thought that sounded like the same beach or at least the same area you guys were going to. I also thought this sounded like a fair deal since you get snorkel equipment, lunch, couples massage and use of resort facilities. I have been doing a lot of thinking lately. :D

Thinking too much can be hazardous

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could tell me how do you go about finding the all inclusive resorts that you can just go and stay at for an afternoon? I am going on a 7 day cruise. We have a port everyday so at least one of those days I would like to just sit relax on a nice beach and relax. And oh ya be pampred like I am a queen. Ok just a little dreaming there. But I would like to have it all taken care of in advance so I can have no worries. ;)

thank you J&G for the advise about Almond Morgan Bay! I emailed Lerry the Guest Services manager before we cruised and we met him upon arriving and he was wonderful.

We spent all day there and had lunch and drinks and had a lovely time.

Thanks again!

(it was a $3 cab ride from port to the resort)

I really like the idea of a beach day in St. Lucia on our upcoming cruise. If you don't mind me asking, was there a day pass/fee at the Almond Resort? Also, do you know if you could use their spa facilities?

We're cruising on the Victory in February with another couple (neither of us have been to St. Lucia before). It just seems like a really beautiful place and a good chill out day. The cab fare can't be beat either! Is St. Lucia one of the islands with set pricing for taxi's, or did you agree on the rate with the driver at the port?

Hi Ladybugg, we got a cab at the port, there is a guy there that asks you where you want to go and then he tells you how much and puts you in a cab.

the day pass was $60 and well worth it, they grilled out food for lunch right on the beach and it was great. they have chairs and umbrellas and water toys. The pool also has a swim up bar and the people were nice.

You should email Lerry the guest services manager, he is wonderful. I don't have his email address w/me, but search Almond Morgan Bay and there will be contact info there.

have fun

Sue

Thanks for the reply. I went to the Almond Morgan Bay's website this evening and the beach looks beautiful. I learned something interesting this evening - that all beaches in St. Lucia are public beaches - even those directly in front of the resorts. This made me think of the $60 day pass; was that inclusive of meals/drinks? One other question, how many people were with you?

(We have four adults in our party.)

Was there in Nov. 2007 when they had a two site snorkel tour with lunch

one site was undere the Pitons and another was off a resort nearby, After the snorkeling we had lunch and the place started to rock. There was a 7.2 earthquake off another Island. The place rocked for about 2 to 3 minuites

We were planning to snorkel off the resort but they asked every one to stay out of the water

The dive boat trip to and from the port give a great view off the coast line.
