We usually dress up, too, but this time I think we will dress "down" a bit more. I know many, many people prefer not to bother with dressier clothes, but we kind of miss how it used to be when we first started cruising in '93. To each their own though. Thanks for the info...now to decide what to pack!

For those of you who don’t speak Spanish, directly translated from the most ancient dialect, “Ensenada” means “stay on the ship.” There’s a similar word among the Caribbean languages, “Jamaica.”

LOL!

Thanks for the review, very informative and enjoyable:)

Thank you so much for your feedback -- I'm glad you enjoyed the review!

I had a similar situation with a Pride trip a few years ago, changes in ports due to weather and a discount offered. They said to keep the letter, and be ready to send it in when booking.

I told my PVP about the discount when booking the next trip and she said - Yes, I have it right here. With the discount your price will be... - no problems at all. No need to send anything in. (both trips were booked with the same PVP, may be different if you used a TA)

Thank you so much for this information -- we had been told we would receive a letter in the mail, but haven't. We're about to book our next cruise -- YEAH!!

Hello,

After reading your review, now I am very concern about my room on the upper deck, #6356. Don't really know how bad it can be. I am worry now, because going with my 85 years old mother.

You should be OK -- your room is above the casino, and I'd be surprised if the sound of the slot machines can be heard -- regardless, we found that earplugs made the situation very manageable and we were VERY close to the disco.

Have a great cruise!!

Hi, Everyone!

Has anyone had any trouble getting Carnival to honor the 25% discount on a future cruise we were offered on this voyage?

Thanks --

T

Nope- we had already made a reservation on the Paradise, they used it for an up-grade to upper deck mid-ship interior, with pre-paid tips. We're going again next week, Empress deck 4 cabins from atrium, great price, but have to add our own tips!

Day 3: Time for Ensenada!

OH!! Remember the garlic dip from lunch today? Well it’s back – and I don’t mean on the buffet! Apparently I am emitting a noxious cloud of tear-inducing, vampire-repelling garlic vapor that’s easily detectable from more than a yard away. Linda brought it to my attention … AGAIN! Mind you, I’ve brushed my teeth several times, scoured my tongue until it’s just RAW and even scrubbed my entire body in a combination of every scented body gel, soap and shampoo in our stateroom — but it’s not made a bit of difference. So, with a little huffiness of righteous indignation, I popped over to the shops and bought a tin of Altoids (you know, the “curiously-strong” mints that “freshen your breath while your head explodes”) and promptly chomped down a couple of dozen of them. Linda told me that the mints just “took the edge off” but did make it tolerable to be around me. Now that I think about it, I wonder if the sales clerks back at the watch table were just reacting to the garlic? Hmmmm ….

I am still LMAO at the above quote and enjoying your reveiw tons. I usually don't read reviews on ships that I am or have not sailed on, so this was a unexpected pleasure.:D:D:D

Very well written and hysterical:D:D:D

I'm so jealous, Cheryl! Linda and I just don't get much of a chance to cruise since we started caring for her 90-year-old mom nine years ago. It does seem that her mom's level of care is getting to the point that we really can't provide it, so she'll probably be moving into a memory unit sometime in the not too distant future. Then we can get back to our favorite way to travel, knowing that we did everything we could for as long as we could.

HI, Everyone!

I noticed that CruiseCritic is showcasing the Splendor on the homepage -- and since my review was never posted in the review section for some reason, I thought I'd bring my posting up for those of you who are interested --

Feel free to ask me any questions ..
