SnorkelLady Posted September 9, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2009 We would like to snorkel and have our own gear. Which is best - Boca Catalina, Malmot, Arashi? Or somewhere else? Our priorities are: Good snorkeling Shade Chairs (purely optional) Which bus would we take to get there? Thanks so much for the help!
Arubalisa Posted September 9, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2009 They are all in the same area. Arashi is a white sand beach with no snorkeling. There are no chairs, no rental at any of them. There is limited shade. Arrive early. The #10 bus will get you there. I have maps and entry instructions here.
SnorkelLady Posted September 9, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted September 9, 2009 Thank you, Arubalisa! You are so helpful! We will follow your suggestions and I’m sure we will have a great day. How early should we get there to get a shady spot to sit?
Arubalisa Posted September 10, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2009 I honestly don't know about timing. The palapas in the area are used by folks who are staying inland at apartments and renting villas. Either way, the earlier you get there the better the snorkeling. I have yet to see them, but there are numerous turtle sightings at Boca Catalina/Catalina Cove earlier in the a.m. Also it should be mentioned, there are no "restroom facilities".
