Consent letter needed if I take the boys w/o dh?

My mom and I are taking my sons (aged 11.5 and 7) on a 3 night cruise on Carnival Sensation in November. We are flying to Florida and boarding in Port Canaveral.

DH will not be joining us due to work commitments. Both boys have passports and our last names match. Given the new requirements for identification and consents, do I need to have a notarized letter signed by DH saying he's aware that I have the boys and that I am travelling without him?

Don't want to get stuck at either the airport or the port and find out that they want to be sure he knows about the trip and approves. If I do need something, I remember seeing previous posts with some samples. Does anyone have one nearby for me to see?

Thanks everyone.

Of course, after I post my question, I manage to get the search working and find a bunch of good posts indicating that I do indeed need a letter signed by DH just to be safe. So I found some samples and will make up the necessary letter for the airlines and cruiseline (and customs officials).

Thanks anyway.

Michele, I saw one of your other letters from a while back. It looks like you took out the language about medical consent since it's not necessary. It's funny...I did one recently for a co worker of mine (she's an attorney and I'm a paralegal) and I edited hers to change the language a bit since I thought hers was a bit ambiguous. You'd think I would realize that I needed one!

Of course, DH is not going to be happy about signing this...he's already not happy with me that he doesn't get to go, and I already asked him if he would drive us to the airport (saves time and money since no parking) and now he'll have to give his written consent. He's going to love it.

How are your girls? Back to school yet?
