New to Seabourn, sailing October 10, on the Legend from Monte Carlo to Barcelona. We frequently stay in Marriott's so I booked the Riviera Marriott La Porte de Monaco in Cap d' Ail, France. Although the hotel appears beautiful, I recently realized that I don't know If the location is convenient to the ship. Any experience with this location? Cab? Shuttles? Change Hotels?

We have been several times, and we love the ambiance of the local. We ALWAYS stay at the Hermitage...it is old and beautiful and gracious. You have the most wonderful walking experience to enjoy the famous sites. You have the veiw of the famous Harbor if you request it in your room. You simply book your ride to go down the hill to the harbor and your ship. Enjoy..it is wonderful. Lola

We stayed for 7 nights using Marriott Reward points at the Riviera Marriott La Porte de Monaco in Cap d'Ail following a Seabourn cruise terminating in Monte Carlo in July.

We enjoyed the hotel very much but you do need to have a room with a sea view and I would recommend asking for a high floor.

It is very easy to explore Monaco and all along the French riviera walking, using buses or taking the train.

For sightseeing, the hotel does have a complimentary half-hourly shuttle which has to be booked in advance and drops off at 4 main locations in Monaco including the station, Casino Square, the old village and the Port Hercule where Seabourn Legend will be docked. However, you would probably have to "negotiate" with the driver to get him to take you right to the ship itself. Also, the shuttle cannot carry much luggage if others are using it. Why not e-mail the hotel in advance and see what they can offer in terms of a transfer to the ship?

We did actually use taxis for our transfers. Taxis are very expensive in Monaco. It would probably cost you 15 - 20 euros from the hotel to the ship and take about 10 minutes max.

We also stayed one night at the Fairmont (OK) and 3 nights at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel (fabulous swimming facilities).

We would stay at both the Marriott and Monte Carlo Bay Hotel again.

Obviously you can check all the hotels out on Trip Advisor.

Hope this helps:)

Very useful information. Based on Cruiserbunny's experience I think we will stick with the Marriott. We arrive the day before the cruise and there appears to be a number of interesting sights to visit. Thanks again.

My pleasure.

I hope you enjoy your stay and your first Seabourn cruise!:)
