What would you do?

My wife and I will be on the Valor in March. If you had the choice of a midship balcony on deck 6 or a a forward/aft balcony on deck 7 which would you take? I have only sailed with midship balcony's. But always deck 9 or up. Does the stateroom position or deck number really matter?

Thanks for any input!

Matt

I would take deck 7 because of the cabins above and below you. There is no need to worry about excess noise. I was on the Valor last October and had a balcony on deck 6 near the front elevators. The "Ding!" annoyed me at first, but I got used to it. You might feel a little more motion in the front or back, but only you know if that will bother you. Personally, the more movement the better for me. I love it!

I agree a deck with floors above and below is always best. But sometimes the cost is prohibitive. I use this website to determine where the rooms are in conjunction with things on the others floors. It allows you to drag the deck plans on top of each other to see how things line up.

For example, I avoid a room above the nightclubs and casino. The one thing it doesn't show are the bandstands that are sometimes set up in the walking areas where you would think it would be quiet. I know on the Valor and Liberty there's one just down from the casino. You won't hear people from below unless they're screaming, but the music and casino noise can definetely be heard.
