whatnow53548 Posted September 16, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2009 We are sailing on the Liberty out of Miami to the Western Caribbean and are wondering what time is ships time. Does it stay in one zone the entire cruise such as Eastern??? Or does it change each time you enter a different time zone. Thanks in advance for your help. allener Posted September 16, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2009 Ship time never changes. It is always the same time as the port you left from provided that daylight savings time doesn't end that week.
cruisetobeaches Posted September 16, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 16, 2009 All of our cruises except the one on Destiny, kept the same time as home port. The Destiny changed time by one hour after we left port and then switched back on the last sea day. Don't remember if it was forward or backward. This was last December. G'ma Posted September 16, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 16, 2009 There are some occasions where you will be required to change the time....it's rare, but does happen. Should this situation arise, it will be clearly printed, in large letters, on the Capers front page and throughout it. There will be several shipboard announcements and a HUGE sign as you debark reminding you. Unless you are advised otherwise, always, always keep your watch on ships time and refer to your own watch for time checks. Don't want to miss your ship, for sure......:p BTW: Ships time is based on the port from which it left......
Froufie Posted September 16, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 16, 2009 Here's a good tool to have - just in case - sometimes you may need to know local port time esp if you are using independent tour guides: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/search.html
shari1737 Posted September 16, 2009 #6 Share Posted September 16, 2009 We just got back from the Glory this past weekend and the night before we arrived in Cozumel, we were asked to set our clocks back an hour. It stayed this way until the night we left Costa Maya & then we changed our clocks back to Eastern time. I have never had a cruise change the time before & even the independent excursion company was amazed that the time of the ship was only 1 hour different instead of the normal 2 hours. CalmCruiserNC Posted September 16, 2009 #7 Share Posted September 16, 2009 On our Splendor cruise two weeks ago, we had to change our clocks to match Mazatlan time.

We changed our time twice on the Liberty western sailing. It will be listed in the capers.
