Boston Parking Question

We're actually taking a land trip to Boston (no cruise this time!).

 

We'd like to know where is a good (cheap) place to park the car for the day - to take the trolley or the T?

 

We bought the 'go-Boston' 3 day card and includes 2 day Trolley pass.

 

We are staying in Burlington.

If you plan on taking the T - From Burlington you can take Rt 128s to Rt 2e to the Alewife T Station (depending on where you are from Burlington the ride to Alewife is 20 minutes and park there for $7 per day

 

You can drive into Boston and park for $12 per day (near the Boston World Trade Center, I believe on Northern Ave) in South Boston. Other than those parking lots, parking is expensive in Boston, so be careful. The main sites (Quincy Market, Aquarium, Boston Commons, etc) are a good walk from there, but you have the T passes, so you can pretty much catch whatever line you want to see whatever sites you want to go to.

I'd got to the Woburn T Station & catch the Commuter Rail. It's a short ride from Burlington, right off the highway, and parking is only $4.00/day.

Im not a local but was there a few weeks ago - Id have to say go to Mikes Pastrys on Hanover St in the North Area of Boston - aka Little Italy.

 

Also if you get the chance & are baseball fans go to Fenway! I loved the experience!

 

Boston is truly a small big city - but it is packed with so much to do!

 

I parked at the 75 State Street garage - it cost me less than $15 to park alllllll day on Saturday plus - it is in walking distance to the waterfront of Boston!

Mike's is for tourists - go to Modern Pastry or better yet there is a new one on Hanover St (not really new - they've been in Somerville since 1887) Lyndell's at 227 Hanover - VERY GOOD!

 

FYI - it's the North End - not Little Italy (that's in Manhatten)

If you want to park at Woburn or Alewife, you need to get up and out if you're there on a weekday morning in order to be able to park. You should be at either station by 8:30 am. IMO Alewife is a better choice (as well as being less expensive). The Red Line runs frequently whereas the commuter rail does not. The commuter rail leaves you at North Station, whereas the Red Line will take you to a more central location downtown.

You are welcome. Yes you will be VERY close indeed!!! :D Im actually going to Boston again this Saturday!!!

Just a little advise as far as the Fenway tour goes - if you book though Old Town Trolleys I think its only $10/pp! Its not a huge savings, but hey, in this economy I will take what I can get!

Enjoy the casinos - try Mohegan Sun as well!!!! They have some fabulous shopping and places to eat! :cool:

 

CapeCodCruiser- I stand corrected. :rolleyes: However, you can easily see why I would call it "little italy" everything on the north end is very italian! Even including some of the signs. But thanks! :o
