Just back off the Celebration

Recommended Posts

Just got back of the Pearls of the Aegean on the Celebration which was our 2nd cruise having done the Mediteranean Renaissance on the Spirit last year

To touch on a few points raised on here recently-

Yes there is a vibration, we didn’t think it was as bad as on the Spirit last year and certainly didn’t affect us at all

Yes there are a few less waiters then on the Spirit last year but we had the all inclusive package and managed to drink more than out fair share. In fact a couple of times it was nice to go to the bar and order your own drinks

Yes, the bathroom was a bit shabby but the room was fine and kept spotless by the cabin steward. We were on deck 3 which did suffer some flooding to a couple of the cabins which I understand has happened before

The food was of the usual high standard, the entertainment was very good although a couple of the shows were the same as on Spirit last year The Uk comedian Kev Orkian was absolutely superb. The whole ship was kept spotless and they even managed to paint the funnel one day whilst the ship was in port

Ports of call

Agios Nikolaos

A lovely village with the shops, a couple of small beaches and a very picturesque lake within a few minutes walk of the ship

Kusadasi

It was Independence day when we were there and on the seafront was a parade of everything from Army marching bands to Dustcarts, As we were about to leave port there was even a small airshow happening overhead. Many shops but to be prepared to be hassled a little

Samos

As we headed out of port the announcement came that we would not be heading to Santorini due to “strong winds” in the port and instead would be sailing to Samos

We went on a trip which took us to an old tunnel, a monastery, the ancient temple of the Goddess Hera and some ancient baths. One of the “Destination Services reps” was on out trip and told us it was the 5th time this summer that they haven’t been to Santorini

Samos was a gorgeous harbour with many bars and restaurants. And well worth a visit

Piraeus

We chose to go on a boat trip on the Corinth Canal. Stunning scenery and a very relaxing trip

Katakolon

A small village with shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk from the boat

Overall a fantastic cruise which really we couldn’t fault, we stayed for another week in Gouvia in Corfu. Again we couldn’t really fault the hotel but in our opinion a hotel holiday really cannot compete with a cruise

We have already booked to go on the Dream in June next year only 9 months to go
