disembarking an RCI ship?

Several other cruise lines allow passengers to wait in their cabins until their debarkation color or number is called. It's been a while since we sailed with Royal Caribbean....do they allow this or does everyone have to leave their cabin and wait in a public area before disembarking the ship on the last morning?

My experience is that RCI wants you out of your cabin by 8AM. They want to give the cabin attendants as much time as possible to get ready for the next set of pax.

I just got off the Serenade on the 12th and had the latest possible debarkation color/time since I was staying in Vancouver that night. The information sheet we got said that you were free to relax in your cabin until it was time to go to your appointed waiting place (which was a little after 9 AM in my case). I went to breakfast first and then came back to my cabin to get my stuff and left my cabin around 9 AM. The cabin attendants had plenty of empty cabins to start on so they didn't appear to be waiting around for me to leave (if that had seemed to be the case I would have tried to clear out sooner).

Just be aware that with the new debarkation system, once you leave your cabin you must report to the designated lounge for your luggage tag color.

There are no more announcements every 5-10 minutes over the central PA system...........it is all done by walkie-talkie between the shore personnel and the staff members assigned to each lounge. When they call for folks with your luggage tag color you will be escorted off the ship by a staff member.
