lillypad83 Posted September 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2009 So, I normally do my own hair on formal night, but this time I thought about making a salon appointment, since I just don't want to be bothered with it. However, I'm kind of skittish about letting someone I haven't used before do my hair. I don't want to look like an '80s pageant queen. Have any of you used the ships salon? How did it turn out? I'm also interested in preserving as much pool time as possible before a late seating... Does it take longer to have your hair done in the salon than it would for me to do my own hair? Thanks for your help, ladies!
cb at sea Posted September 24, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2009 I wouldn't pay to have an "unknown" mess with my hair. Of course, I don't do an "updo"--too prom-y for me! I just wash and curl and I'm good to go! Is there something special you want done that you can't do yourself?
trish1c Posted September 24, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2009 Personally I was so appauled by the captive audience exhorbinant prices of the hair salon I never used the service. They wanted to charge me $75 for an updo that costs $25 at home. No thanks. The later appointment go the fastest. I made the appointment at about 3 pm on boarding day & that latest I could get was 2 pm on formal night. I cancelled it once I found out the price. I suppose it depends on what you want. I'd bring a picture.
mamasue Posted September 24, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2009 I was considering it on one cruise.... but again... to expensive for a 'stranger' to do my hair!! I usually do it myself on formal nights.... then I know it's how I want it!!
lillypad83 Posted September 25, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted September 25, 2009 Thanks for the input. My hair is significantly longer now than it was over the spring when we took our last cruise, so I have enough hair to "do" something with now. I was thinking that half-up thing Madonna had going at the VMAs was kind of hot, and I was scared if I tried it myself, it would be a train wreck. (I'm lucky enough to have hair that doesn't require product, so I wouldn't know how to tease it if I wanted to..) I think I'll just flip it over, blow dry it, and curl it. Porn star hair has always worked for me before... :)
