Cruise Aficionado Posted September 30, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2009 We are sailing on RCL's Voyager of the Seas from Barcelona on Oct. 15 and have booked two excursions through Driver In Rome company (for Rome and Florence). Have two questions about meeting these private tour companies: - if itinerary says we arrive at 7 a.m., is that pretty much the time we can actually leave the boat? (Haven't toured in a while so I've forgotten!) - is it best to meet private tour companies a half-hour or hour after we arrive/dock in the port to avoid all crowds from those taking RCL excursions? Thanks in advance for suggestions!
paul929207 Posted September 30, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2009 You cannot get off until the ship is clearedd by the local authorities. This can take a few minutes. If you are docked by 7am, you should be cleared by 7:30. We try to meet early for independent tours. That way we get on the road ahead of the buses and, hopefully, beat the crowds. eandj Posted September 30, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2009 Your tour company will give you specific times. It's not up to you. They know the itinerary they have to meet and do everything possible to avoid the bus tours. Generally 8 or 8:30. They will be holding up a sign with your name.
