Tomcat2245 Posted October 3, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2009 At the end of this month we will be taking a 3 day cruise from Miami to the Bahamas. This is our first 3 day cruise; the others were for 7 or 8 days. Is there a Captain's night formal dinner, or cocktail party for returning guests on these shorter cruises. We don't want to pack better clothing if there is no need for it. We will be on Carnival's Immagination. Has anyone found any differences in food/entertainment on the short cruises. ATL2LAS Posted October 3, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2009 There is a formal night and Captain's gala on the 3 nighter. Carnival makes sure every cruise has the lobster night, even the short ones.
Bonnie J. Posted October 3, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2009 But it is no longer formal night, its cruise elegance. My husband didn't take his tux on two 7 day Carnival cruises, only a jacket. (Cruises were 8/29 & 9/19- last month) He wore it the 1st formal night but wore only a Polo shirt the 2nd and that was what most men wore. Few tux's and formal gowns but some. Carnival cruise before these we had a man in a t-shirt and jeans at our table on formal night! Carnival doesn't seem to care what you wear to the dining room anymore! Guest TropicOne Posted October 3, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2009 Personally, I would not bother with it for such a short cruise, I have been on 2. I just bring casual attire and relax.
trish1c Posted October 3, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 3, 2009 Our 1st cruise was a 4 nighter. We went all out -- tux & cocktail dress. Never again. It's too much of a P.I.T.A. for such a short cruise. I'd bring a wrinkle free LBD & let DH wear a sports coat but that's about it. By the time we came back on deck from our after dinner drink ever single person aboard was back in super casual clothes.
yogi2929 Posted October 3, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 3, 2009 Only done the 3/4 day cruises out of California. Out here the guys wear everything from a nice Hawaiian shirt and dockers (my DH) to a tux. Gals wear everything from black slacks and a top (me) to a long dress. The most popular for guys is a long sleeve dress shirt with a tie OR jacket. For the gals a black pants outfit or a cocktail dress.
