South Beach taxis and restaurants

We will be staying at the Holiday Inn, Port of Miami prior to our cruise. Approximately what are the taxi fares from the Holiday Inn to the South Beach art deco area? Is there much traffic on Thursday evenings? Is it difficult to get a taxi back? Any suggestions for dining in the South Beach area-- we enjoy outdoor dining and people watching

For outdoor dining and people watching go to Ocean Drive between 5th & 15th Streets, it's lined with sidewalk cafes and some of the best people watching on the planet.

Lincoln Road Mall is another option... Just walk around and see what looks good to you.

Taxis are not hard to get, if you can't find one driving around looking for a fare just go to a hotel and get one there.

There's always a lot of traffic, but Monday-Thursday aren't nearly as bad as Friday-Sunday. Taxi fare should be somewhere around $20 or so. I'd just have them drop you off at 5th & Ocean and then walk north.
