ncbeachteacher Posted October 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2009 After our Victory cruise in June, we would like to spend a few days in San Juan. We are thinking a beach-y type resort, where we don't need a rental car, etc. Any recommendations based on experience? (include the ones to stay away from too!) Thanks. Hflors Posted October 4, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2009 Caribe Hilton. Great hotel, very nice (private) beach and pool area. You will need a taxi to go to old san juan. But sometimes you can get great deals on this hotel. Hope you have a great time.
cruisingforsix Posted October 7, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 7, 2009 We are staying at the Marriott .We booked a room but alsotried to bid on Priceline but must have been to cheap .I will keep trying since we still have a couple months. The only thing is it's a crap shoot ,you don't know what place you are getting. But i figured if i put in resort any one will be good. i will let you know about the marriott when we get back in Jan. it looks beautiful and all the reviews have been great. ncbeachteacher Posted October 8, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted October 8, 2009 Thanks Hflors and Cruisingforsix! I did the priceline thing for the night before our cruise and got the Marriot (but now I think I overbid... ) but, definitely let me know how is it in January. I agree, it definitely sounds good on paper. Regarding the after the cruise stay... would love to stay at the Caribe Hilton. I am going to start researching resorts vs. 4 star vs. location for after the cruise. Thanks to you both for the recommendations and comments. goldesq Posted October 8, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 8, 2009 I researched it some bit and a lot of people recommended the Intercontinental. That is where I will be staying in 2 weeks for my post-cruise overnight stay. I know Marriott's are great resorts so you cannot go wrong with either. verodoodle Posted October 9, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 9, 2009 We were there in Sept. and used priceline and put in for a resort and got the Intercontinental. When we showed up they told us they had over booked and sent us to the Ritz. The Ritz was really nice :D with a great beach and pool and the Intercontinental looked just as nice. As a side note I let priceline know that the hotel I had won was overbooked and we were moved (at no cost to us) just a little inconvenient, They checked and refunded us our full cost. :) Can't say enought about thier customer service.
