Did anyone else get this? Our Christmas Eve flight was cancelled. I guess I should redeem this soon! Email I got today follows:

Dear Mr. D******,

On behalf of Delta Air Lines and Comair, I sincerely apologize for the

operational and weather-related difficulties you experienced this

holiday season. We understand how important safe and reliable travel is

to you, especially when you are visiting family and friends during the

holiday season. We are sorry for any inconvenience this caused.

Please be assured we are reviewing our operations so that we can prevent

and better handle similar circumstances in the future.

While we know it is impossible to make up for missed holiday gatherings

or vacations, we have deposited 25,000 miles in your SkyMiles account as

a "thank you" for your patience and understanding.

Again, we apologize for the difficulties you experienced recently while

flying with us. We appreciate your business and welcome the opportunity

to serve you on a future flight.

Sincerely,

Paul Matsen

Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer

Wow, now that's what I call "doing good". A free ticket is nothing to sneeze about, esepcially for this snafu. Now just go ahead and book it for that next cruise.

But one thing I do find interesting is that it came from the CMO and not the COO or CEO. Reading in to it, I guess this shows that it was more of a PR effort than anything else (or maybe this is just the cynical side of me speaking).

How much is 25,000 miles in the FF account worth? I've taken voluntary bumps on AirTran twice. Once they gave me 3 free round trips and the other 2 free round trips. Of course also hotel and meals. So I'm just curious what the points are worth.

I'm a Skymiles member and I'm still waiting on my letter.... .. My flight was cancelled to K.C. from Atlanta over Christmas. It was a fiasco trying to get back to Pensacola.. finally at 4:00 a.m. the next day, we made it back home.
