bahamaman Posted October 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2009 OK, so i booked our first cruise on Epic (July) and pre-paid gratuities. Regarding cabin service, say breakfast for instance, does that require an additional tip or is it covered by the pre-paid, or am i missing something? Help! Help! I always tip room service as I don't think they are part of the tip pool but I could be wrong and someone will correct me. For coffee I tip 1$, coffee and danish and juice, 2$, A full meal such as sandwich, fries, drink, 3$-4. I've never ordered dinner. This is for one person. Let the flames begin. Happy sails:)
bahamaman Posted October 7, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted October 7, 2009 ok, that sounds reasonable and i sincerely appreciate the advice! as far as fanning the flames, do you think this topic is worthy of controversy and criticism as its not so much about tipping as to what the pre-paid charge covers. You'd be surprised at what brings controversy and criticism here. It's a very controversial board of a few but there are many, many who are here to help. :) If you ever get a flamer on this board just ignore them. :) Happy Sails!:)
WELLDOITAGAIN Posted October 7, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 7, 2009 I agree with the above post regarding tip amounts, but bear in mind that unless you order something that you need to pay for, like a drink or soda, there's no way to sign for a tip, so bring along some singles. Zeno Posted October 7, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 7, 2009 Tipping room service is entirely up to you - they really don't expect it but are certainly pleased when you give them a little something.
Arwenmark Posted October 7, 2009 #7 Share Posted October 7, 2009 The people delivering are doing it on their time off for extra money. so yes it is customary to tip something usually $1 to $5 depending on the amount brought. Please do not leave trays in the hall when done. call to have them picked up. Those of us with mobility issues and wheelchairs thank you.
bahamaman Posted October 8, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted October 8, 2009 Hey folks thanks for the help and advice, i will be sure to bring some singles and thumbs up on the tray deal, which is not something that i would have thought of. (no disrespect intended)
DMH15 Posted October 8, 2009 #9 Share Posted October 8, 2009 I always bring plenty of singles for tips as the NCL crews have always spoiled me. I am a big fan of room service. Another reason not to put trays in the hallways is that if the ship gets into bad weather "shift happens" and the tray contents can become a hazard if scattered in the path. I hope you enjoy your cruise!
