Majesty of the Seas - Formal Night

Recommended Posts

I was on the Maj.OS a few years ago, and there was a formal night. And it was just as formal as the 7 night cruise I was on last year.

Formal nights are what you make them. I always like to make the most of them and dress up more than I should.

I had thought that formal nights on 7- and 8-night cruises have some number of men in tuxes, while we saw none in tuxes on the 3-night Majesty of the Seas cruise. I'll be sure to check for men in tuxes on formal night on my up-coming cruise.

My wife & I will also be on the Majesty on 4/29. We do not plan on bringing ANY checked luggage, therefore, no tuxes or suits. I would rather dress casual and eat all meals in the Windjammer than go through the hassle of checking bags and waiting for them prior to embarkation or finding them during debarkation. This will be our 10th cruise on RCCL and are traveling simply to reach our Crown & Anchor Diamond status.

We just came off the Jewel of the Seas 1/2/05 and had to wait in line at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport over 2 hours due to TSA scanning checked luggage. I am not willing to go through that again on such a short cruise. Everything I need can easily be packed into carry-on luggage. Besides, even on the Jewel there were many cruisers wearing casual attire on formal evenings and noone really cared.

A group of girls and I are going on the Majesty for that same cruise. We're all wearing nice cocktail dresses as opposed to gowns...last time I went on a short cruise though there was a mix of people from gowns to sundresses and guys in tuxes, suits, and even khaki's and a sports coat. We're figuring we can't go wrong with a cocktail dress, we can dress it up or down with some jewelry or heels if we feel underdressed.
