twoatsea Posted October 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2009 We can save a total of $600 on our 11/23/09 cruise. But when I called, was advised that cannot get a refund, but will get it applied as OBC instead. I asked, can I cash it in onboard & was told "No". Can only spend it on the ship. Is this correct? We do not drink alcohol/soft drinks, don't do spas, will have only carryon luggage for a trip of 33 days - so no room to shop & no desire anyway, excursions already paid (told cannot apply to those already bought), don't gamble, don't pay for food when there is way too much free food..........so obviously we will not spend $600 onboard. The only cost we have on every cruise are the tips, but those won't add up to $600. So, was I given the correct info? Thanks
bionicman97 Posted October 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2009 Just a guess, but could you cancel your excursions (or at least some of them) and book them while you are on the ship (then maybe the OBC could be applied to it)?
lovemylab Posted October 13, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 13, 2009 You could always just go to the casino and take the cash. I believe they charge a 3% fee but this is still better than not getting anything.
lvcruiselover Posted October 13, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2009 My understanding is that any unused OBC will be credited to your original credit card after the cruise.

Thanks Your tips should cover some of it, and with the rest you could splurge.Cancel shore excursions already booked and rebook using credit if possible. A price drop is a bonus. Have fun with it. Try a specialty restaraunt this time around as a treat. You may be able to get a refund at the end of the cruise for unused credit. Not sure if this would apply. You could try upgrading your cabin with the price difference also. The reason your getting OBC is because you already made final payment. Have a great cruise and enjoy your free found money!(thats how I feel about price drops)
csk Posted October 13, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 13, 2009 I was just on the Jewel a couple of weeks ago and had OBC of $250. and had a balance of $61. at the end of the cruise, On the last night ask if we should get it from the casino and the purser said it would be credited to our credit card, and it showed up about 3 days later. jdh Posted October 13, 2009 #7 Share Posted October 13, 2009 We have an OBC because there was a price drop after we made final payment. Was told if we do not use it all, we will get it back at the end. Since we always put cash on our seapass, and don't use credit cards, they said we would get it back in cash.
