Negotiation - Transformation Plan

 

To: US Airways Mechanic and Related Employees and Maintenance Training Specialists

 

Your Negotiation Committee and Representatives from the Grand Lodge, our financial advisor and Legal Counsel continued negotiations with the Company on Monday, Jan 3, 2005. This morning, Jan 5, 2005, we offered a resolution to the Company addressing all of the issues involved. We believe this resolution provides the means for the survival of this Company and also provides for your future job security.

 

Based on the above, we expect the Company will sign the agreement this afternoon. This agreement is subject to your approval and we expect Judge Mitchell to grant us the time necessary for ratification.

 

Your continued support has made this possible. We will continue to keep you advised of all future developments as they occur.

That letter is from the union, so we don't know how good the plan is and what the company's response will be or the decision of the judge. Hope we will hear this afternoon.

If the machinists agree to a contract, they will not void the contract.

Different news organizations, different wording. AP said the judge threw out the contracts BUT if the two sides reached an aggrement by Jan 21st on a new contract then his order would be nullified.

All this makes me really anxious with regard to my booking for May (made through Cunard, US to UK to board QE2)

 

I have E Mailed Cunard but have had no reply as to whether they have a back up plan or are altering the airline they are using for my cruise.

 

Wish they would realise how anxious passengers can be with all this

Now the question is what will the machinists union do. Will they vote to strike? If so, that would probably put the airline down as sure as anything. Time will tell.
