learn to surf Maui or Kaui

Recommended Posts

We will be on the NCL Wind for the 10 day cruise starting June 1st.

Some of the people in our group would like to learn to surf.

We have two options of surf lessons excursions offered by NCL, each are 3 hours long . The one on Maui is called catch a wave and doesn't tell us where they would take us? The other one is on Kaui and is at Poipu? Is there a good reason to choose one over the other.

If part of our group does an excursion like catch a wave on Maui and the rest of us rent a car and go do a scenic tour could we catch up with each other and spend the rest of the day doing more scenic stuff?

There are several surf schools in Maui where you can get group lessons for $55 for 2 hours. Some even let you continue to rent boards for $10 an hour after your lesson, so you can continue to surf. Goofy Foot Surf school is the place I've chosen for my teens to learn to surf but there are several others. The website has lots of info http://www.goofyfootsurfschool.
