Sea-Bands-Where can I find them in a hurry?

Recommended Posts

Since the Mariner seems to rock-n-roll, I'm going to need some sea-bands. Do they really work and where can I find them before my cruise on the 30th? Thanks in advance!

I got mine at Savon's. I have seen them in most drug stores and some super markets. I would guess that most sporting goods stores should have them, as well as any boating stores or bait/tackle shops.

I love mine, they work great!

I cannot imagine the Mariner rock'n-and-rollin'. I have gone on one of her sister ships and couldn't feel movement at all. I don't know where to get sea bands, but the people I have met, who are prone to sea sickness, seem to get along fine with Bonine. If you don't find the sea bands, maybe tht will help.

Have fun!!

They have them at Walgreens.

Usually Bonine is all I need - but on my last cruise, I was using the sea bands, bonine, AND benadryl (to put me to sleep) - and I was still praying for death.

Thanks for the replies! I get VERY sea sick and I take Bonine daily plus Dramamine if I get REALLY sick. On our last cruise, the Caribbean was smooth sailing, but I still got sick twice. I've heard that the Mariner only rocks 'n rolls when it is in the Atlantic. I just want to be prepared. I'll look at Walgreens & our local travel store.

You know for free the Purser will give you some magic pills... and this is for real.. that will totally eliminate or prevent any sea sickness. You take them once a day and you dont get that drowsy feeling or have to walk around with sweat band looking things all week. You just go to the desk and ask for them when you get on the ship!

Thanks Nitra! I'm having second thoughts about walking around with those sweatbands...that's what they look like to me also.

They may look like sweatbands, but they work. I use them all the time. & you woulnd't be the only one walking around with them on. My pregnant friend just took mine last week when she was feeling qweasy w/ morning sickness. They worked instantly on her. I bought some new ones yesterday at Sav-ons for $5.99. Wlagreens had them for $9.99 and wal-mart didn't carry them. I also saw them on the ship for $8.95. Same brand all "Sea-Band". I also saw some people walking around with a little patch behind their ear. But I beleive those are by prescription. Good Luck and have a great time.....

Try the relief band. I tend to get sick also and during the last cruise when we went to Canada instead of Bermuda (7 nights at sea) I didnt get sick once using this.
Hopefully the price will go down on this great item. Lucky for me it was a gift from a friend.

Here is a picture of it.

All Walgreens and Eckard drug stores I've been to have them. Most are around $6-7.

My wife is a strong believer in them. She normally needs something the first night and the sea bands worked like magic. After her breakfast the next morning she didn't even need those for the remainder of the week.

BERMUDASHORTS: Interesting link. That's the first I've heard of battery powered seabands. Looks more like a wrist watch. Have you used that product before? Do you consider it worth the price?

Thanks for all of the info. I think I'll wait until I get on the ship and if I need them, I'll buy them then. If I get sick, I'm sure I won't care that I'm walking around with sweatbands on. It's good to know that the ship carries them just in case.

I swear by it now. I have an inner ear problem with makes me have motion head problems.
The first time I used them was last year and ill never not use it again.

It give you alittle shock. No not shock treatment, but its like a pulse shock.. lol
Hard to discribe. There are 5 setting, and the highest isnt that bad and the lowest is hardly even felt.
You wear it upside down with the face on the vein.
It is a bit chunky. that is the only complaint I have. But im sure they will be making them smaller.

I think my friend sells it for over $100. He has a website for boating supplies so maybe he got a deal on it (at least I hope) But they were about $100 then. Thats price on this website looks good.
I just posted that for a picture.

I dreaded the thought of 7 nights last year at sea.
I never felt anything remotely like I was going to be sick.
Cruising is great, obviously i would go regardless, but not without this unless I had too.
Other times my ear doctor said to use benadryl and bonnie and that worked pretty good also.
Surprisingly i wasnt drowsy.
Maybe they are cheaper on ebay.

I bought mine on the ship... I never got really sea sick... but VERY dizzy and was afraid I was going to get sick.

They were priced reasonably, like $10 considering I would have pd just about anything at that point!

This was on the Mariner May 2-9. It was the first sea day that was rough. Capt said it was b/c we were out in the Atlantic instead of staying in sheltered seas... plus the headwinds were VERY strong.

We need a Holiday...

Antivert
It's available by prescription and a life saver for those of us that can't take being tossed like a salad!

I take one per day starting two days before cruising or flying.
