LACEY2011 Posted October 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2009 Hi All. I have been asked off a friend to bring back some ciggarettes and being a none smoker myself wouldn't have a clue how much they are!! Could anyone tell me if any of the caribbean islands sell them, namely being Lambet & Butler and how much they are? or how much they are duty free? Thank you in advance! land ahoy! Posted October 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2009 the cheapest cigs are duty free on the ship at roughly £15 to £20 for a 200 carton, compared to £50 plus in the uk shops.there is no limit to how many you buy on the ship ,but regarding customs whether returning to uk by plane or ship your legal allowance is 200 cigs per person or there abouts ........ cruisebore Posted October 25, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2009 The cheapest we have found was in St Maarten Less than $18 for 200. Also IMHO it is the best place for liquor and electrical goods Regards Cb
DAN 60 Posted October 29, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2009 I also have been asked to bring back cigs, a true friend would not do so. Based on health grounds alone.
luv2krooze1791 Posted October 29, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2009 I also have been asked to bring back cigs, a true friend would not do so.Based on health grounds alone. Given that the person who asked you to bring them is going to smoke a given number, is it not acceptable to save a little money for said friend? You are hardly encouraging smoking by a couple of hundred fags.
pnhmrk Posted October 29, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2009 You are hardly encouraging smoking by a couple of hundred fags. Personally I would wonder about what kind of a friend I'd got if they deliberately cost me £40 or £50 that I wouldn't have spent otherwise. So would I, but then a member of the health police wouldn't have been a friend in the first place:D. Mary

bobarnie Posted October 30, 2009 #10 Share Posted October 30, 2009 My point entirely. What if the said friend gave you the money for the said fags in the first place ?
luv2krooze1791 Posted October 30, 2009 #11 Share Posted October 30, 2009 What if the said friend gave you the money for the said fags in the first place ? I don't see it matters either way. Why pay more for something rather than less? And it is that saving that we are talking about.
Hal 500 Posted October 30, 2009 #12 Share Posted October 30, 2009 I bought 200 Lambert and Butler at Sangster airport in Jamaica for my brother priced at £17.50. The cheapest we saw were packs of 200 (various brands) for $16 which I think was on St. Maarten.
land ahoy! Posted October 30, 2009 #13 Share Posted October 30, 2009 I think the point be made originally was the cost ,,not that the friend who asked for the cigs expected to get them for nothing as a gift,,,,and these suggestions about a true firend buying health hazard fags is hardly something to question your friendship about...these people who jump on the anti smoking band wagon ,,hope they dont drink!!!!!!!!
