Rare teacherman Posted October 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2009 We recently returned from the October 11 sailing of RCCL Legend of the Seas. Our first stop was Portofino, a very picturesque place with about the smallest harbor I have ever seen for tendering (except maybe Grand Cayman). Anyway, after about 1500 passengers were ashore, a weather front blew through with strong winds creating dangerous waves for tendering, which came to a halt. Eventually, the ship sailed away to Genoa, and 1500 people were sent on large ferries to the town of St Marguerite. We were then bussed to Genoa to reboard the ship. The cruise line did a wonderful job on this, and we were all aboard and having dinner by about 9:00 pm as the ship sailed out of Genoa. I felt sorry for the many people who were on the first day of their very first cruise. Many people were complaining about everything (as some always seem to do) but others of us took it as an unexpected adventure with a chance to see some great scenery as we rode the busses to Genoa. GSPLover Posted October 27, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2009 Glad you made the most of your altered port stop. Yes, there are always people who will complain about everything, and they're worse when something goes wrong. The Med can kick up in October at a moments notice. Especially true in Northern Italy.
