Atlantis Question

I am going to Nassau with my family in April on a Carnival cruise. I looked into doing the Comfort Suites room to see Atlantis but with all the taxes & fees it comes out close to $275 for 4 of us (even after the 20% smarterliving discount). I am going during Spring Break season so I guess the rates are way up.

In any event, how much of the Atlantis can you see without paying? Can you see the grounds? Are you limited to the lobby, restaurants and casio?

Also, I read another post on this board about a beach next door to Atlantis. They mentioned going to look around in Atlantis and then they went to the beach next door. What is this beach? Is it free? Are there amenities, chairs, etc?

I have already picked up a lot of info here but I am still not sure what we are going to do when we get there, so I want to look at all of my options.

Thanks in advance for the advice,

Tony.

Entering Atlantis grounds during Spring Break would be like trying to enter Fort Knox.

The public areas in Atlantis are the Shopping Areas, Casino, Lobby and Lobby Restaurants ONLY. Other than that, you'll need to be a guest. There are NO day rooms during Spring Break.

As for the beach, you can enter the PUBLIC beach next to the RIU Hotel just east of the Atlantis. If they are not at capacity, you will be able to rent lounge chairs and umbrellas for a price (I think they are $10/$15ea.) It's unlikely they would NOT be at capacity at this time.

During this season, even the Atlantis beach area becomes pretty restrictive, so you would likely use the public beach next door. (again, you can rent chairs for a cheaper price).

The Public beach has no other amenities. There are no public wash rooms or snak shacks.

The other beach option is to head to Cable Beach and enter at either Radisson or Nassau Beach Hotel. Either hotel will allow you to use their beach, lounges and rest rooms free of charge. They expect you to purchase drinks and lunch while you are there.

Or

Just walk about 1/2 mile west along the roadway past the British Colonial Hilton to the Public Lighthouse Beach. This time of year there should be chaises, snak shacks and restrooms.

It's not easy to hide from the Spring Break Crowds, so be prepared.

Scubagirl has me a little nervous now about the crowds. :( Would I be better off getting th C.S. room? I am thinking if it is that crowded why spend the $$ for the room just to fight the crowds on the beach and at the pools/slides, etc.? Maybe I would be better off with a planned excursion which would not be overcrowded since they limit the number of participants anyway?

Thanks,

Tony.

If you want to be able to use the beach and or pool and facilities at the Atlantis then I would book the room at the Comfort Suites or you will be out of luck. The resort will still be crowded as it's spring break and the Atlantis is large and will probably be book up itself let alone adding those from the Comfort Suites so be prepared. There will be a wait and line to get on the slides but it should move quickly.

Scuba Girl, you wrote, "There are NO day rooms during Spring Break."

Does that mean that the Atlantis and Comfort Suites refuse to book a room for only one night during spring break, or are they simply booked up for that time already.

I am planning ahead for Spring of 2006, but will change ships and itineraries if I can't get full access to the Atlantis when the ship is scheduled to dock there (which would be March 29, 2006).

Thanks!

Chris

Day rooms are usually available only when the hotel is NOT at capacity. During Holidays, High Season and Spring Break, there are more guests than there are square feet of space. So they limit the amount of outsiders they allow to use the facilities.

Day Rooms are not the same as Guest Rooms

You can book a GUEST room at either Atlanits or Comfort Suites if there is one available... but a DAY ROOM is not a Guest room. It's the privilege of using the pools, slides, grounds with use of the lockers, showers and a place to change. This is sometimes a guest room, sometimes a shared area. It's not meant for you to stay in, just to change. Although during some off seasons, people have been known to get a nice room for the day.

A paid guest room means you have the room all day and overnite if you wish.

I am also going to be in the Bahamas in April 05'. I did a search for spring break dates and the last wave of college spring breakers are in the last week of March. According to those dates, spring break should be over before April. Is there something I'm missing?
