12 hrs. in BA

Bristol

Recommended Posts

Can anyone give me some advice on how to spend 12 hrs. in BA between leaving our ship in the early AM & catching a 9PM flight home. There are 4 of us and our luggage. We would love to see some of BA before we leave. Can anyone recommend an English speaking driver who could drive us around the city and get us to the airport around 6PM?

This is our first trip to SA and can't take any extra days to stay in BA.

This question has been asked several times. You might try searching key words here or on the Bs As forum at www.tripadvisor.com

One thing you might consider to eliminate the luggage probelem is to find another similarly situated couple or two and chip in for a moderately priced hotel room where you can leave the bags and maybe shower before taking off for the flight.

I have heard the hop on hop off bus is not very good. There are several free and for hire tourguides and other bus tours that you can locate via tripadvisor. Use the search function there. Do not fail to have a big lunch at one of the fine steakhouses, eg. El Mirasol - in La Recova or La Cabrera on Av Cabrera in Palermo. Eating well is one of the best things to do in Bs As.

Hello,

The suggestion that you get a hotel room to store your stuff is a good one. The Hilton Buenos Aires is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. It is about 15 minutes from the cruise terminal. It is not cheap but a truly wonderful, very modern well kept hotel where English is spoken. In particular the swimming pool is situated so that you have nice views of BA and the River Plata.

BA is not very big and you can walk from the Hilton to downtown BA. The famous Ricoleta cemetery is about 15 minutes by taxi (use Radio Taxi). The Metropolitan Cathredral is alo a very interesting church.

The Hilton has an arrangement with a company that will take you to and from the EZE airport. Again, this service is not cheap but we had a great experience when we arrived in BA and stayed at the Hilton.

For convenience we took the BA city tour offered by NCL. It was very convenient (although not inexpensive). We got out of the ship very quickly since we are in a group tour. No long lines to get out or long wait to pickup your luggages at the terminal. At the end of the tour we were dropped off at our hotel. Our luggages were already at the hotel. Some folks in our group were taken directly to the airport after the tour. It was a comprehensive tour of BA. We visited all the must see places in BA. Plus it was educational. Last part of the tour we had great lunch...tender huge steak and bottles of red & white wine. If you would like to get the most of BA on a tight schedule, I think that a tour from the cruise is the way to go. Not inexpensive but hassle free and you make the most of your time.
