Sesom Posted November 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2009 My husband and I are taking an 11 night cruise and one of the stops will be Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. We are interested in taking a day excursion, but would like to make the excursion without the help of the cruise line. Does anyone know of a reputable shore excursion company in Limon, CR that will take us to the Tortuguero Canals and perhaps a banana planatation and shopping tour for about 4 hours at a reasonable price. The cruise lines are too expensive!

cruiser429 Posted November 1, 2009 #3 Share Posted November 1, 2009 We used Euvangie's Tours http://www.euvangie.com/index-en.php?mod=tours This 5 hour tour included a brief city tour, a boat trip into the Tortugeura canals to see various wildlife, a visit to an animal rescue center, a brief stop at a banana plantation and a visit to a local grocery where we bought Costa Rican coffee at bargain basement prices. Beverages (Soft drinks, water and beer) were furnished. We also made a lunch stop but that was at our own expense. Everything was great except the restaurant. While the view was perfect, the food wasn't wonderful, and the service was awful. Our tour guide was embarrassed about the restaurant and said he wouldn't use it again. Fredr Posted November 1, 2009 #4 Share Posted November 1, 2009 hello, Whether you find a private tour company or go on the ship's excursion though expensive, make absolutely sure that you see the canals.
Colorado Kat Posted November 2, 2009 #5 Share Posted November 2, 2009 We also used Okey Doke Tours - we loved them. The canals were great, and I really enjoyed the banana plantation - very interesting. Kathy
