Ocho Rios, Grand Caymen and Cozumel Activities

Hello and thanks in advance for your help. My wife and i will be sailing to the above ports on Summit 1-16. We're looking for advice on port activities. My wife is 4.5 months pregnant so that will certainly limit our choices.

-Ocho Rios- We have already done Dunn's River Falls. We would love to just find a nice beach where there would be available chairs and maybe the ability to buy drinks.

- Grand Cayman - Similar but what about Sting Ray City. Does anyone know if that would be apprpriate in your 5th month of pregnancy?

-Cozumel - Same here. Nice beach. How about snorkeling? Has anyone ever heard of any restrictions for pregnant women?

Thanks again!

Hi Bjakeski,

Sounds like a delightful itinerary! I love both Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios.

Ocho Rios - You've done the Falls, what about enjoying the beach right there? Seems to me there's lots of activity at the beach below the Falls, and you could watch other groups begin their ascent. Or, just stroll on down the beach for a more peaceful spot.

Also, I highly recommend the botanical garden tour in Ocho Rios. It's very easy walking and quite interesting seeing the gathered tropical vegetation and is a guided walk.

Grand Cayman - Yes, by all means do Stingray City. It should be fine in mid-term pregnancy. While she might not feel good about doing the snorkeling tour there are options. You can do a tour that goes out on a jet boat and then puts you down in a half-submersible so that everyone gets to watch the stingrays. I've done this escorting a tour group with people nearly 90, and they all had a ball!!

My understanding is that the Turtle Farm received terrible damage during the devastating hurricane this past season. I haven't heard whether they're back in operation.

Have a wonderful trip, all 'three' of you!! :)

I don't know if she would want to do the turtle farm anyway. As far as sting ray city, it depends on how big she is already, and how she feels. If she is still fairly active, it should be fine.

In Ocho Rios, we visited an interesting pottery factory. If that interests you, maybe you can add a brief trip there.
