Valor or Glory - Upper vs Empress

We are debating between the Valor and Glory, but looks like they are sister ships, so I'm guessing this next question would apply to both. We wondered if the cabins on the Upper deck mid-ship get much noise from below. I know mid-ship on the Empress deck we would have cabins both above and below. Debating for two reasons: 1. Money and 2. Upper deck has more cabins that would sleep 4 if the kids bring friends.

Thanks.

I was on the Valor last year on deck 6, balcony mid ship location. It was a great cabin. In fact it was near the elevator but I seldom heard any noise.

Depends on where the cabin is located on the Upper deck-

Going to the even side-- which is port side of the ship. you take any cabin that is NOT over the stage area of the lounges.

Over the casino is a good choice. (as long as you are on the port side.0

THERE Is a band that sets up by the casino bar that does not start playing until after 9pm and can play til the wee hours of the morning. Also on the "odd" side is the piano bar which also can go til the wee hours--depending on how good the player is

Boook a 8a and watch for price drops- Our price dropped so we upgraded to the Empress deck-- right there by the aft elevator

You should really get paid for all you do for CC! :D Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and advise.

I just posted a question on another thread about our booking on the Valor - Room 7358 during next Spring Break. It's across from a white area and although Carnival assured me it was okay when I booked it, I now know that I should have avoided that area.

I called Carnival tonight to see if they had another room on that deck, but there are no other 8C rooms available. We have friends that booked a suite on this deck, so we really don't want to change decks. It's their first cruise so they are excited and paying the extra $ for the larger room. It's our 5th cruise, so a balcony is just fine. We booked our first cruise on the Riviera deck and have kept upgrading... I really thought this would be the ideal deck and that all the rooms would be prime for being quiet.

What do you think? Do you know if any doors to the crew/work area are across from our room? I'd rather be ready for noise and carts in front of our room ahead of time - and then be pleasantly surprised if that's not the case. I also noticed the pool a few decks up...could that area somehow be for the pool? I think not, but thought worth asking.

If you think I should keep trying for another 8C room on that floor, I will.

Thank you for your time!

Phyllis

  • 1 month later...

I just booked the Valor and was originally in cabin 2367 and 2369. When I really studied the deck plan and was worried with the galley and dining room above. I called back and changed to one interior and one balcony higher up and with the past guest discount it was not much more money.I hate when I second guess myself.
