ruppert18 Posted November 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2009 Anyone going on this cruise? We are contemplating booking but are interested in sharing tours, etc.
harbormaster Posted November 12, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2009 Hello: We are booked on this cruise and looking forward to it. It will be our first time in South Africa. It looks like the ship is quite full and the itinerary looks wonderful. We will fly in early and spend time in Cape Town and then, following the cruise, will travel to Bushman's Kloof for a few days - top rated in T&L. We live in Maryland as well. Hope you do book and we'll look forward to meeting you.
ruppert18 Posted November 13, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted November 13, 2009 Hi. We booked the cruise. Flying in early and staying at the Westin for 3 nights. We were in Kenya in January so we are not doing any safari post cruise. Have you booked any excursions? Looking forward to meeting you.
harbormaster Posted November 13, 2009 #4 Share Posted November 13, 2009 Glad to hear you booked! We originally were going to do Phinda out of Richards Bay, but decided to do Bushman's Kloof post cruise instead. We have pre-reserved some ship excursions - day trips for animal viewing, but are open to any ideas about excursions on our own. Would love to hear your ideas. We usually prefer to tour on our own. Are you flying out of DC? We are leaving Jan 18th on KLM going through AMS to CPT. We will return Feb. 8th. Actually using points at the Westin the last two days. We have reservations at two places beforehand and are trying to decide which to cancel :). Love Silversea and looking forward to being back on the Wind. ruppert18 Posted November 13, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted November 13, 2009 Hi. We are very open to private tours also. I have a tour operator I am working with for Capetown tours. We were thinking about Phinda but will probably also just do day tours. It is a bit of a hassle to go off the ship for a night. This is our 3rd time on the Wind and 6th on SS. We are flying out on the 19 from Atlanta-CPT on Delta. If you want to email you can contact me at rupc@aol.com. Where in Maryland do you live - harbormaster sounds like Annapolis!! harbormaster Posted November 16, 2009 #6 Share Posted November 16, 2009 Hi Lois will email you about tours. Did you get the information that Yellow Fever Vaccination is required to board because of the stop in Mozambique? We had the shot about a month ago because we're going on a cruise next week, but the information was sent out to travel agents, not us directly and the folks on the later sailings received it before we did. Just want to make sure you know about it. We live very close to Camp David in Maryland in the "mountains" if you can call them that. We did live on the Chesapeake for a few years. I guess DS's Navy background contributed to the avatar Harbormaster, although it is the name of one of our dogs! Kathy
