libbydic Posted January 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2005 I am looking for where on the web I can get a hat. What I am looking for is a sun hat like a straw hat type, I've checked LLBean and Lands End but I didn't like anything there? Any ideas thanks
Happy ks Posted January 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2005 If so, why not wait until you are island shopping and pick one up there? I have a wonderful packable straw hat I purchased from Travel Smith several years ago. The only problem with straw hats is that they can blow off so easily on a ship, they are only good for shore time. I really prefer my No-Headache visor for onboard. Here is a link for the straw hat I have: http://www.travelsmith.com/ts/cookie.jsp?ContentOID=94146&Category=%2fProductHierarchy%2fFootwear+and+Hats%2fWomen's+Hats+%26+Accessories&Category1=%2fProductHierarchy%2fFootwear+and+Hats&source=subcategory.jsp No headache visor: (this site actually has a ton of hats!) http://www.villagehatshop.com/no_headache_mid_visor.html Have fun shopping! Sorry, the travelsmith link doesn't appear to work, you can easily go to their site, the hat is easy to find.
kitty9 Posted January 9, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2005 I have two really great straw hats from TravelSmith. They are folding and packable hats and I've taken them everywhere on cruises. They roll up and fit right into the suitcase.
happyRN Posted January 9, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2005 Hi libbydic! Here's one I JUST bought online http://store.yahoo.com/coolibar/02503w.html Hope this helps!
Jane110 Posted January 9, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2005 I also like the Travelsmith hats. Besides the fact that they are packable, they come in sizes, unlike most hat companies that feel "one size fits all". NOT! Jane
Allis154 Posted January 13, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2005 My DH and I recently purchased Tilley hats online. Great hats, comfortable, guaranteed for life, 1/2 price replacement for lost or stolen hats, different sizes, colors and styles. Great hats! and packable, washable... Can you tell that I like my hat!!!

WeirdEyes Posted January 14, 2005 #8 Share Posted January 14, 2005 On the No Headache Visor, how does it fasten in the back? Also, does it have terry cloth inside? I really like it and might buy one. Thanks!
GiniB Posted January 14, 2005 #9 Share Posted January 14, 2005 I got my gorgeous, crushable raffia hat at Coldwater Creek. They used to carry it online (www.coldwatercreek.com) don't know if they still do. I absolutely love it!
GiniB Posted January 14, 2005 #10 Share Posted January 14, 2005 Not only do they still have "my" hat, it's less than it was when I bought it (now only $25) and comes in natural and red. I highly recommend it. http://www.coldwatercreek.com/aspx/product.aspx?np=true&channel=1&productId=995&deptId=2&ensembleId=18665
nutbrown Posted January 15, 2005 #11 Share Posted January 15, 2005 Last week I ordered a great hat from Travelsmith, but just received a card in the mail saying the vendor isn't supplying them any more. UGH!
bUU Posted January 15, 2005 #12 Share Posted January 15, 2005 I just bought this: I've already received it, and it seems like it'll be great. I'm a little leary about crunching it down in my luggage too much, but so far it seems like it'll take it. http://www.rei.com/outlet/product/47779393.htm?vcat=OUTLET_SSHP_MENS_SA
Happy ks Posted January 15, 2005 #13 Share Posted January 15, 2005 The No-Headache visor does not fasten at the back of your head, it's like most other visors that have a band around your forehead toward your ears. It's more springy than regular visors and self adjusts to your head size. I've had several over the years, some even have matched my Jams World shirts. I haven't bought any other kind since I found them, my head, I think, must be wider than "normal" I have a hard time with hats and glasses, most are too tight for me. The Travel Smith packable hat does come in sizes, a nice touch.
