Bringing Can Soda Aboard

Hello,

 

Although this is our 3rd cruise with Princess, are you allowed to bring your own canned soda aboard without having to smuggle it? I usually get the soda card but the DW is a die-hard Pepsi fan and hates Coke. Thanks for any experiences you can provide.

No problem bringing soda aboard, I usually bring a couple of cases with me on Princess cruises. I'm a Pepsi drinker and my wife is a fan of Diet Dr. Pepper, neither of which the ship carries.

I havent had a problem, There is nothing says you can't.

I usually take a larger bag as carry on and then put pop and other heavy things in it once in the departure city. As carry on you dont have to pay the airline baggage charge

Yes you can. I also bring a few bottled waters on board for taking on excursions. We also bought wine in port and carried in on board to keep in our frig in the room. Makes it sound like I was on a liquid diet!;)

When we were in line on November 4th to board the Ruby in FLL, a couple behind us were carrying on four cases of Pepsi on a portable push cart. They said they both love Pepsi and have never had a problem bringing their soda aboard.

Slap a luggage tag on it and give it to the porters.

What kind of soda is onboard the ships? I love Diet Coke but will settle for Pepsi if I have to. Also, I am assuming that soda is expensive on the ship? My hubby hates soda, but I just have to have it.

It's Coke products and they don't have a very extensive selection (i.e. I don't think they have things like Sprite Zero). It's about $2 per can including the tip though you can buy the card or get the soda package (buy 5 get one free).

 

We always bring on a case of 12 or the mini cans if we don't feel like carrying the other.

How much is the soda card now? In JUly 2008 on the Caribbean Princess -9 day cruise- it was one price for the entire cruise. Is that still the case?

We have done it several times without any issue traveled a month ago on the Golden, I love ginger ale, it helps if you feel a little sea sick, no one has ever said a word, we have also carried a case of Pepsi on.

Yes, it is about $4.00 a day plus tax.

Or get a rollaboard cooler. You could even strap a deck chair to it. :p
