Try Gios in French Harbor or The Hole in the Wall in Jonesville, maybe. Used to be a place on the West End, Mavis & Dixies that served it. Maybe Roatan1 or UCFCrew know a local spot or two as they spend a fair amount of time here. Most restaurants on Roatan cater to divers and cruisers. Eating out frequently isn't affordable for many islanders.

ya I have been to Costa Rica a couple of times and a love there chicken and rica at this little hole in the wall

Gio's and Hole in the wall are great places for tourists and more well to do locals to visit but seriously, if you want local, and your comming in on carnival that will mean you doing a tour. Ask the DRIVER the best place for good LOCAL food, maybe buy his dinner too, who knows the best local cheap places better than cab drivers? There are plenty of places in Coxen Hole but you will be at the new dock by then.
