Laundry

Bring your own quarters. Although you might be able to get some in the Casino or at the pursers desk. I believe it's now $3.00 a load to wash and $3.00 to dry. They do sell soap and fabric softner in the machines in the laundry room. I think they are about $1.00 a piece.

If I don't have enough quarters on me I go to the pursers desk for them. I've never had a problem. And I'd bring my own soap/softener from home. It's $2 for a small box of soap, one load size, same for the softner. Check the machines out before you put $ in them to make sure they are working, like are the lights on, stuff like that. We had one machine that got all the way to the spin cycle and wouldn't spin. Had to trapse back to the pursers desk to tell them so they could sign the machine, get the quarters and a new box of soap and do the load over again. It takes a while so don't be in a rush to get it done.

FYI just take some of the new combo wash/softener sheets from home in a zip lock.

The name of these are Purex Complete. It took me a while to find them, but I got some last week and have already packed them. (I'm so overly excited about the cruise), But one reason I got them early is that they are hard to find, and I wanted to get the "supplies" without shelling a lot of money out the week before the cruise. :) 'Cause I will be shelling out money once I get on board.

These are great for travel - don't have to worry about a leaking liquid or an "unidentified" powder in your luggage. Twice I've had the detergent machines on the ship take my money and not work. Luckily the last few cruises I've packed well and haven't had to do laundry. The first few I way underpacked - didn't estimate how many times we'd change clothes or get sweaty on an excursion and want to change once back at the ship so we had to do some laundry.

I'm looking forward to platinum so the ship will do my laundry for me! :p

I've been finding the refill packs on the clearance rack at my local market. Don't know if they no longer carring them or if the packaging was deemed 'too ugly to sell'.

We also like using them on vacation and when we need to go to the laundromat.

Thank you for all of your replies. I have the Purex sheets already packed. I have never used them before but when I saw them in the store I decided that they were a no brainer. Easy pack and use. What an ingenious invention.

Does the washer and dryer take quarters or do they take bills? I really don't want to carry quarters with me.

Don't worry about taking quarters - the purser's desk will happily give you some.
