Safes on Splendor

How do the safes on the Splendor work?

Do they have keys? Do you program in a code?

We just sailed on HAL and had to use a card with a magnetic strip. It did not make sense to us to have to carry a credit card with us everywhere on the ship!

Carnival uses the credit card type safe. Any card with a mag strip will work.

I dont know why you would carry the card all over the ship.

 

We use a grocery store card- put it in a pocket of a pair of pants hanging in the closet.

That way if we are seperated on the ship and he has the card-- and I want access to the safe I dont have to walk all over looking for him to get the card.

Don't know about all of the Carnival ships, but the Splendor has keypad code safes.

Just a heads up to those that have yet to sail on the Splendor the safe does NOT use a card~! The safe has a keypad and uses a 4 digit number. We loved having it so simple.

The Splendor has a four digit code safe.

 

The Paradise, also out of Long Beach, needs a strip.

 

OP- Other HAL ships use codes. I know the Westerdam does.

I stand corrected :) Thinking back that was the first Carnival ship I was on that had the keypad.

I just posted this same picture on a thread asking about the Splendor's mini-fridge, but it applies here as well so I'll double up. You can see the safe's keypad; as a previous poster said you program your own 4-digit code. Easy-peasy!

The Dream also uses the keypad. Makes it much easier than having to use a card -- especially if the other person you are sailing with might have it with them and they happen to be elsewhere when you want to get into the safe.

I don't know why they even bother putting safes on the ship. Most people on Carnival don't have anything worth stealing anyway..

I hope you are kidding...... you don't call a passport worth stealing or cash???
