highlandshores Posted November 16, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2009 We will be in St Lucia on a cruise in December. Think of renting a jeep and doing a self drive tour party of 4. Anyone do that? Or are we crazy! lol. Really don't like the big busses taking alot of people on a cattle car. Any advise would be appreciated. highlandshores Posted November 28, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted November 28, 2009 Thanks for the info. Don't know what to do. I thought about Cosol, but the tour is 6 hours long. Don't know if I wanted to be in a van that long.
JAYinNC Posted December 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2009 Don't really know what the problem would be. We've driven our own jeep/car on St. Lucia twice, the 2nd time only a month ago. Easy to rent a car at the port terminal...I think there were two agencies on site with cars there (as opposed to going to the airport to pickup). We had another couple with us. Easy departure from Casteries...drive over to the east coast and followed the roads down. Roads in surprisingly good condition. Never felt worried about the car or the status of the roads. Went to Dennery, drove down to Vieux Fort. Great views of the Pitons, stopped at the Soufriere Volcano. Had a great lunch in Soufriere, then drove back on the west coast. This is a bit mountaineous and windy, but still a great trip. I agree...6 hours on any bus is too long
