Frairs beach

Who has been to Frairs beach lately? Heard there was construction going on there, beach not as nice. We were thinking about going there in Feb.

It is South Friars Beach, There had been construction on the North end of the beach but it has stopped mid-construction. There is a restaurant there that is not completed yet. On the South end of the beach is a very nice beach bar called Shipwreck. We were there last week several times.

Shipwreck bar is the one we were interested in. How was the food, service, drinks etc? How is that end of the beach? Most tour guides want to take you to Cockshell (?) beach which from what I read can get crowded.

The food is pretty good as well as the service & drinks. There are a lot of ex-pats that hang out there. The beach is fine, further down it is rocky & people do some snorkeling there. It is not crowded during the week but on Sundays it does get busy.

What's the taxi charge to this beach? I'm interested in snorkelling and DW would like a place to lounge and maybe get a drink. Thanks

We use a rental car but the taxi fare should be less than $20 each way. You can have the taxi drop you off & arrange for a pick-up time. Agree on the price & return time & pay him when you return to the port.

do they have taxis that can hold 6 of us? and for $20 or less or would they charge per person?

All taxi rates are charged on a basis of 1-4 people per ride. It is the same whether there is 1 or 4 people. Most of the taxis are large vans so six people would not be a problem. Your cost still should be about $20 each way for the ride.
