walkie talkies?

They do work but be aware that many failies will have the same idea.

You will get a lot of "noise" no matter what channel you will be on.

You want a talkie with rechargeable batteries or you will go through tons of batteries..

or cheaper yet- leave messages either on the phone or notes on the mirrow

We have had good success using walkie talkies to keep in contact with each other on the ship. Ours are just little Motorola Talkabout T5420. They worked fine, even when our kids were in our cabin on Riviera or Main deck and we were up on Lido.

We didn't have problems with noise on the channel, because our model has a ton of different channel combinations. 14 channels and 28 sub-channels on each one. So, if we heard another family on one channel, we would just switch to a different one.

We always take ours and use them with no problems. We have the same type as a previous poster. They are small and work great. We also take them with us in ports. DH and I got seperated in port and because of having the walkie talkies, we were able to reconnect without any issues.

Motorola's are probably the best to go with. Price is a good indication of the quality, if the cose $24 for a pair don't count on them working very well.

Look for radios that say GMRS on the package, these are higher power than the standard FRS only radios. GMRS is not a brand, it refers the the channels the radio uses.... Also make sure it says something about security codes or sub channels on the package or you will be hearing everyone else talking.

You should be able to get some good ones for about $60 a pair.

We are crising on the Conquest over Christmas. I want to be able to keep tabs on the teens. Our cell phones would cost too much to use (I looked into it). Do walkie talkies work? What kind would we need? Any recommendations?

Best advice, set up times for them to come by so that you can see them. Teens do not want a walkie talkie, and unless they leave the ship they are really not going anywhere.
