Stealing from the cruise ship

I had this happen to me once. I called a member of the casino staff over and he stuck something in the machine, left, came back and ultimately removed the credits. There was enough time that went by that I was hoping the person who left the credits would come back, but they never did. Did I do the right thing? I'll never know but I think I felt better about myself.

Some people do not like to pull the slots if they do not have enough money to cover all the lines and are too 'lazy' to go thru the motions to get that one credit into their players bank.

Check out this thread from the HAL boards-

What I do know is that they know your gambling history. The cage people once told my DH to go back to his last machine because he left a significant amount of credits on it:eek:.

Evidently he didn't know where to look on the machine to see if he got his credits, so he went left the machine and went to the cage. He doesn't play the machines too often.

Can't convicted criminals cruise, no questions ask? If the cruising passport mandate goes through, it would be somewhat more difficult to cruise as many states restrict passports to convicted felons...

States do not have any control over issuing passports; they are issued by the federal government, and criminal records play no part in the process. The only time a state 'controls' a passport is when they require someone to surrender theirs as a condition of bail pending a trial, to make sure they don't flee the country. Even then, once the trial is over, the passport must be returned to the person whether they are convicted or not.

As to the original question - - Absolutely! And I would hope they are 'blacklisted' from ever taking another cruise on that line.

I just want to know what alerted the OP that their neighbors were "missing" in the first place? And for how long were they "missing" before they asked the room steward about it? In fact more often than not I couldn't tell you what the neighbors even look like.

Are you Joking??? Should have they been kicked off the ship??? I think I now know why the country has gone down hill.

The alternative - they could have been kept in their cabin (or brig) under guard.

Do you think they had passports?

Dear all,

The authorities kicked them off the ship at the 1st port of call !

Do you think the ship did the right thing from getting rid of the bad

apples ? I want to hear your opinions .

Absolutely! Were it your business, would YOU want them to stay?

It's not a question of whether they can get a passport, it is an issue of whether the countries being visited will let them in.

I know Canada won't let anyone in if they have a DUI or any misdemeanor above a traffic ticket, for a period of five years. But they do not often run the passenger manifest through the NCIC database. They can and sometimes do, though.

Also when you return and your passport is swiped, a quick NCIC check is performed. I get flagged everytime I come through the ports as it picks up a warrent for Grand Larceny from New York. Luckily it is someone else that they are looking for with the same name and attributes but usually I have to go through Secondary Search until it is resolved.

Yogi, you keep em here and I'll go down and get the Plank. Now that would be a great deck party. Sometimes the old ways were the best ways

Obviously stealing is just wrong...no 2 ways about it. Get rid of them ASAP.

We had a honeymooning couple on our last cruise who had left their camera with all their wedding pics in the lounge by accident. The staff kept making announcements to just drop the memory card off at the Pursor's Desk. Since I heard the announcement made more than one day, I'm thinking the crooks never did. Too bad they never caught the people and the couple could have taken pics of them being ushered off the ship:mad:

That's what I was thinking LMAO!!! There really is not much to steal on a cruise ship.........and it is not like you can run and jump in a car to get away......Dumb and Dumber comes to mind:D

You'd be shocked at what people steal from hotels - i would imagine cruise ships are no different. There's a reason the hair dryers are mounted to the walls. Otherwise normal people seem to get the idea that they paid for the room and can take whatever they want. I have seen it all - towels, pillows, coffee makers, even china and silverware stolen. And this was in a 4 star hotel - not the Motel 6. I can't even count the number of times the salt & pepper shakers or the sugar dishes disappeared off the tables in the dining room. Usually after they had asked to cost to purchase them and decided it was too pricey.

The sad part is, we all pay in the end with higher prices to make up for the lost items.

Dear all,

I finished coming back from the Carnival Valor couple weeks ago. And I noticed my neighbor's was no longer on board after the 3rd day. When i asked the cabin steward what happened to them , he let me know that his wife was caught stealing in the Casino and he was caught stealing some where else on board the ship. (Perhaps the gift shop or photo dept , not too sure). Both where up to no good.

No,no,no. They should not have been kicked off of the ship. Carnival should held a school course for them and taught them the error of their ways. Sensitivty training, how to behave in public, all that good stuff that most of us learned in 2nd or 3rd grade. They probably should have looked for regular passengers and indentured them into assisting these classes.

Then, they should have assumed that the lessons took and cut'em loose on the ship. I'm certain that they would have learned the error of their ways spent the rest of the cruise behaving appropriately. That's how it works on shore isn't it?

Not.

Luddite, that only works in America, not on International waters. I like the way the Saudi's do it better and just chop off a hand.
