MikeyD30 Posted November 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2009 Hi all, We're thinking of taking the St. Croix Island Safari Tour with Sweeny Toussaint in March. It's about 5.5 hrs for $50 per person. It includes driving tours of Frederiksted & Christiansted, and goes to the Cruzan Rum distillery, St. George Village Botanical Garden, Whim Plantation museum, and the Carambola Golf course. Has anyone else done this tour with Sweeny? Mikey
Geckos Posted December 10, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 10, 2009 On this tour you will be in an open air bus that can seat about 25 people. It does visit all of places that you listed. It will start in Frederiksted as that is where your ship ports. the Driving tour you speak of in both towns really is just driving through. you will have time to walk in Frederiksted before returning to the ship. Im not sure if you get time to walk around Christiansted or not. The Cruzan Rum distillary is pretty cool. you get to see how the rum is produced and there are free tasts at the end. you can also taste it at the cruzan rum store by the cruise ship pier. At the Botanical gardens it is a walking tour so make sure you have good shoes on. you will recieve a lot of information about a lot of different vegitation as you stroll through the ruins and garden areas with your guide. The Whim Plantation tour is A LOT of history and information about the great housae and surronding buildings and you will get a little time to walk around the property on your own. Im not sure what you do at Carombola. maybe get some time at the beach? They usually have different options on where to stop for lunch, but i think the cost of lunch is not included in the price of the tour. So if you are looking for a tour that will give you information about the islands culture, history, and vegitation. this is for you. hope this info helps!
