Weather in Hawaii

We have never been to Hawaii in March before although have been there at other times of the year. Could someone tell me what we might expect in terms of weather in early to Mid March? We have never been when the whales are there or when the waves( to see the surfers) are at their highest and thought maybe we might get a glimpse of this in March. Can't go in Dec or Jan or most of Feb so only want advice of late, late Feb or March. thanks so much!

We were there last early to mid March. Weather was unseasonably cool for there (in the 70's). In Lahaina there were more whales than you could count. We took a whale watch cruise with Ultimate Whale Watch (google them) , which was on a zodiac that carries 20 people and had a great time. You will see plenty of whales from the ship as it is anchored off shore and there are whales everywhere around you.

The North Shore waves depend on storms out of Japan or Alaska so that would be variable depending on weather there several days earlier.

We are returning again this year in early February and the whale watching should be ideal again.

Check out the blog we did on our trip last year. It includes lots of pictures of the whales, etc.

October thru February are the months with the most precipitation, according to The Weather Channel.

We were there on a cruise in mid-March 2008, and I don't recall having any rain while in the Islands.

Hawaii's temps are sort of "perpetually summery". Average highs in March are in the low 80s and mid-60s for the lows.

We're going on the March 14th sailing of the Golden, and will be packing summer attire for the days in Hawaii, and probably will be using them on some of the sea days too. When we took this cruise before in mid March, things warmed up about the 3rd sea day.
