I was on NCL's Gem and they had live dealers for hold'em. I hear that Carnival only has electronic monitors, and no tounaments is this true. I'm going on the Freedom in feb.

The only Hold 'Em on Carnival, outside of tournament cruises, is electronic... Poker Pro tables...

My experience also most recently on the SPLENDOR and the ELATION. Very enjoyable to play on them. However, on the ELATION they had an outrageous rake with no upper limit that I could see. (e.g. $600 pot, house takes $60 . . . almost all quality casinos, and I go to one of the largest, have an upper rake limit per hand that is no where near 10% of a pot like that. Its voluntary so I can't really complain, just wouldn't be interested again if they don't change this and POST those limits. :)

Looks like I will be trying poker pro tables, although it sounds like internet poker to me ????

I didn't play because I didn't think I would like the electronic feel to it. I would say that yes it is somewhat like the internet the only exception is that you can see the opponents.

The Poker Pro tables are just tables with a computer dealer. All the players are there with you, each looking at their "cards" on individual screens. The shuffle is truly random, the players will range in skill just like at a local casino. The rake however is too high. But, if you win enough, who cares?
