Behind the Scenes Tour

Has anyone ever taken the behind the scenes tour on one of Carnivals ships. From what I have read they bring you to the crew's quarters, the bridge and other places that are off limits to passengers. If you have taken this tour can you share what the tour consist of and if it is worth the money. Thanks

Never took the official tour but my friend worked on a ship and I took a cruise where I had crew access. It's interesting to see - very different from what I expected...

I have taken the touron the VALOR this past September. As far as I am concerned it was GREAT. If you are like me a cruise junkie then it is DEFINITELY worth it. You go behind the scene at the main show lounge, crew area, and kitchen. The kitchen part is alot more involved then the tour offered to the general tour gets. As far as the crew area, we did not actually see a room on my tour. All of the crew quarters were taken. If there is an empty room YOU WILL see it. You go on on the bridge and even bow of the ship. It was about 4 hours, and it cost $95. You get a lanyard, baseball hat, pictures of group and then of you and captain on bridge. You will also get a picture book made by CARNIVAL employees and you will go into the main engineering room. All in all in was reaaly cool. If you do this ask alot of questions. They answered every question. I thought it was great. Oh yea, you can not bring camera or cell phone. They WILL search you. If you have it on you, you can give it to tour guide or bring it back to your room.

Just back two weeks from the Splendor. We were in the "Behind The Fun" tour on Saturday (last sea day). It was without a doubt the best $95 excursion we have ever taken (14 cruises and a lot of iffy tours). If you get a chance DO IT! This lasted about 4 hours and requires a LOT of rapid walking and climbing stairs. We did recieve several neat little gifts at the end of the tour.

 

It is unfortunate that the Captain we spent time with has had a reported heart attack while in Cabo. He had told us he was going home on vacation this week.

I just did the Behind The Fun tour on our recent cruise. I really enjoyed it. I had read about no cell phones / cameras and no open toed shoes on CC but was a little surprised to read "no skirts" on the piece of paper we got from Carnival.

 

We booked as soon as we got on the ship and were asked if we were from Cruise Critic. LOL.

You do not see the crews cabins. I agree it was one of the best "excursions" I've been on!
